Colin came to see us in May and brough five of his birds - a Barn Owl, a Little Owl, a European Eagle Owl, an African Scops Owl and a Harris Hawk. He visited every class and every child got to hold an owl. It was a wonderful experience for the children to see these majestic birds up close.
Katelyn came to visit us on Tuesday, 19 May. She is a wonderful inspiration to all children in the school, and spoke about her career as an electrician, what it is like to be the Rose of Tralee and her experience on Dancing with the Stars. She was really generous with her time and answered lots of questions. Pupils sang, danced and played music for her. We thank her for taking time out of her schedule to visit us!
As a newly amalgamated school, we have been working on creating a new crest to represent our new school. With help from children, parents and staff, our new crest represents our love of sport and activities, wellbeing and unity, symbols from both the Boys and Girls schools, a bridge to represent the link between past, present and future, and the two rivers of Castlecomer merging as one - a representation of the amalagmation of our two schools into one. Many thanks to one of our parents for bringing the vision into reality.
